Tim Parry died peacefully at his home in Islington on Monday 18 September 2006.
Tim Parry in 2004
Tim joined the Hall-Carpenter Archives Press Cuttings Collection as a volunteer in 1998. LAGNA was formed in 2001 and Tim became Chair in January 2002. He was Project Leader for the HLF-funded Queer Britain project in 2004-2005, and made enormous contributions to the Archive.
Tim studied art history at Manchester University and later gained an MPhil at Trinity College, Oxford. He then studied for the priesthood, gaining a degree in Divinity from Edinburgh University, and worked as a Curate in Hull. He was a founder member of the magazine Mancunian Gay in Manchester, and a member of Manchester Lesbian and Gay Switchboard. He worked as an archivist at Lambeth Palace, doing research into 19th century church architecture, and for Project SIGMA in London.
He had a life long interest in church architecture and set up an excellent website about the buildings of Hinckley were he grew up - and another on Dadlington in Leicestershire.
His funeral was held on Friday 29 September.
